Georgia Is On My Mind

Hiawassee Georgia Pickelball Courts
Hiawassee Pickleball Clinics Fall 2015
Yes, I’ve got Georgia on my mind.
Happy to announce I’m heading back to beautiful Hiawassee, Georgia for their fall tournament and I can’t wait.
The new 14 court Towns County Pickleball complex will host the second annual Georgia Mountain Fall Classic pickleball tournament September 16-19.
Not looking forward to the lonely 8 hour drive down, but can’t wait to see and feel the excitement when this tournament begins.  The growth since last year is staggering.  The word is obviously out that the Towns Pickleball Complex in Hiawassee is an amazing place to play pickleball and some of my best pickleball friends will be there.  I’m sure Hiawassee will roll out the red carpet for the Elliott family, Rob, Jodi, Josh and Rachel, as well as National Champion Gigi Lemaster and the queen of Pickleball Club Wear and one of the top lady players on the planet, Stephanie Lane to name a few.
I loved supporting the Hiawassee tournament last year and put it on my 2016 calendar early.  Not only am I looking forward to playing this year, but especially looking forward to showing off some of the new Pickleball Rocks clothing line and teaching the post tournament clinics on Monday. Should be a fun-filled four days.
Hopefully you’re signed up for either the Novice or the Advanced clinic on Monday.  If not, make sure you contact John Hall and let him know you are coming.
Promises to be a great time.
See y’all there,
– Rocket

The Second Annual North Carolina Holiday Smash Pickleball Tournament was held on Saturday November 21st at the beautiful 16 court indoor facility at Carolina Courts in Concord, NC. Teams from 5 South Eastern states completed for the gold in both age and skill groups.

North Carolina Smash Pickleball Tournament

This year all “back in” registrations and brackets were managed by PickleballTournaments.com, who according to Bob “did a fantastic job” with all the logistics. Bob recalls last year that he and Joe Borrelli, North Carolina Coastal District Ambassador, spent 4 hours in a McDonald’s booth doing the brackets on their laptops.

The tournament next year will be a Round Robin and be held the Saturday before Thanksgiving on November 18th and 19th at Concord.

Visit the North Carolina Web page www.northcarolinapickleball.net for photos and information on this tourney and North Carolina Pickleball.

Congrats to all the winners!

Here is just a little feedback from this year’s players:

Just wanted to say thanks to you and your family for all your hard work and effort to put this event together. I had a great time at this quality event and my first experience with tournament play pickleball. Pickleball Rocks!  -Bob Penn

This was my first 3.5 level tournament at the Summer Shootout. Rodney Grubbs and his family put on a spectacular tournament with a great structure and great organization. Major props to Pickleball Rocks and the Grubbs family and their support for an awesome day of Pickleball.

Also, these are the coolest trophies!   -Ryan Goodwin

Just a quick note to reiterate what a great job your family did on the tournament over the weekend.  I was only there on Sunday and other than the heat it was perfect!  I spoke to many other persons and everyone was very complementary of the entire tournament.

Thanks again for putting on such a nice event!     -Matt Kelsch

Had a blast! Thanks for helping get Iggy hooked on this great game.   You guys are the best.   We will be back next year!    -Andrew P.

This year’s event will be held at Spiece Fieldhouse

with 200-300 of your closest pickleball friends attending from all over the country.  This year’s tournament is designated a Tier 3 tournament so bigger ranking points will be on the line for the top 3 finishers in each event.

This is an indoor (so no weather worries) skill level tournament with age divisions within each skill, so everyone will be in the running for the coveted Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.
